Mr. Hughes, a wealthy businessman with failing health, collects experiences rather than rare objects. He receives a visit from a desperate scientist ready to sell the memory of her world-changing discovery in exchange for enough money to continue her research. However, neither the scientist nor Mr. Hughes are what they claim to be.
